What are the different services you offer at ImaGem Lab?

ImaGem offers a variety of services in India. Services offered range from Full Diamond Grading Reports with additional information on light behavior and clarity plots to Mini Reports for Grading, Light behavior, Diamond Jewelry, Diamond Packet Reports and Consulting services for color, clarity, light behavior, authenticity and weight and dimensions.

What are the fees for your services?

The fees for our Services are highly competitive and considerably lower than international labs.

Do ImaGem grading reports contain the same information as the major labs such as GIA and IGI?

Yes, ImaGem provides the universal measures of carat weight, color and clarity and extensive
gauging measures plus a visual image of the stone. However we have not adopted their
recently added models for deciding cut grade. Instead ImaGem provides three
direct measures of light behavior and an overall light behavior grade. ImaGem’s
grading reports provide additional information such as girdle, axial and table symmetry
and girdle perimeter.

I am based outside of Surat, but I would like to use services from your lab.
How can I do that?

We have several customers that are based in South India, North India, Africa, Middle East and other parts of the world.
You have several ways to do business with us.

1. You can send the goods using courier services
2. Schedule an appointment prior to visiting Surat and get the work done while you are in Surat.
3. If the manufacturer is based near Surat, you can direct them to use services from us –
   or provide us with their contact information and we will be in touch with them.
4. Depending on the type of service, location and volumes, we may be able to process the work at your site.

I am interested in purchasing/leasing the equipment from ImaGem. How can I do that?

We can certainly sell/lease the equipment you see at our Lab. Please contact the Surat office
or the US head office with your specific request and we will be in touch with you.

In performing color and clarity grading how does ImaGem utilize a gemologist?

The measures and plots provided are always subject to the visual review of a trained gemologist.

Does ImaGem currently offer services to determine if stones are synthetic or treated? If so, please describe?

ImaGem has capability to integrate other systems in its grading process which are used to identify treatment. However currently we do not offer services to determine if stones are synthetic or treated. ImaGem also has proprietary technology to screen for certain treatments.

What does the light behavior image on the report indicate?

The pattern is a visual representation of how a diamond reacts with light and is
a powerful tool for selling a stone. The light behavior image is unique and distinctive to
each diamond and may be used to differentiate it from other diamonds which have a different pattern of light distribution.

What distinguishes this light behavior service from other companies that measure light performance?

ImaGem has developed a system to distinguish between appearances of diamonds based on direct
measurement of light behavior. The direct measurement of light behavior approach takes into account the
color, clarity and nuances in a diamond which cannot be done through a modeling approach.

Scintillation and fire while historically have been considered in describing the quality of a diamond are difficult to measure
because of lack of operational definition. In ImaGem’s direct measurement of light behavior, aspects of scintillation and fire
are measured by the three measures of light behavior under repeatable conditions.
